Riders at the 17th annual Sanford Health Great American Bike Race had a chance to celebrate 12 holidays over the span of six hours.
The Bismarck-Mandan Young Professionals Network’s team brought that holiday cheer to the race. Following a theme of “A Holiday Ride,” each of the 12 YP team members dressed as a different holiday. The cast featured a shockingly realistic – albeit super-sized – Cupid, a groundhog, a tree in honor of Arbor Day and other standard holidays such as Christmas and Halloween. The festive theme caught the attention of KFYR-TV, which showcased the team during the hour-long live broadcast from the event.
Overall, the YP team raised more than $1,200, and, over its 12 20-minute heats, the group covered 72.75 miles on a stationary bike set up in the Century High gym. It was the second straight year the YP network had a team at the bike race.
