Vern Dosch, CEO of National Information Solutions Cooperative (NISC) has worked in the industry for 43 years – so it’s safe to say he’s learned a thing or two along the way! On August 17, he spoke to more than 30 members and NISC employees on lessons he’s learned in his career.
His presentation focused on culture, millennials, and the impact of technology in the workplace. The young professional generation can choose jobs based on culture – something very important – whereas Baby Boomers didn’t have that luxury. What matters to millennials? Job flexibility, professional development, and a “be good, do good” environment.
Young leaders today focus more on humility, generosity, and integrity, rather than title and money (don’t expect a good title to get you respect!). Let the way you treat people be how you mentor those around you.
Do what you love and do great work. When working as a professional, always be thinking “If this were my company, what would I do?” Make sure technology is your slave, not your master. Be sure to embrace technology in your workplace.
Vern’s book “Wired Differently” can be purchased on Amazon and Kindle, and all proceeds benefit the NISC Benevolent Fund for employees needing assistance.
