Job Title: Senior Mortgage Loan Officer/Assistant Vice President
Years with Company: 3
Hometown: Williston, ND
Role in the YP Network: Member of the Ambassador Team, Entrepreneurship Team, 2016 Epic Impact Committee and 2016 Strategic Planning Committee
What does the committee feel he contributes to YPN?
Jake is an active member of the Ambassador Team and has been since the day that he attended his first meeting. He is always willing to volunteer and raise his hand to do the extra work and go the extra mile. Jake goes above and beyond and he is a true asset to the Ambassador Team. Most recently, Jake was our Ambassador of the Quarter. His role was to reach out to each new member and invite them to the New Member Breakfast. Jake took it one step further and reached out to each new member, but also invited them to go to coffee with him to talk about the network and address any questions. We appreciate his innovation and are thankful for Jake’s dedication to the Ambassador Team.
Why do you feel it is important to be part of the network?
When I first moved to Bismarck, I knew very few people, yet alone professionals. This was new to me being I moved here from my hometown of Williston, ND. Joining the network has not only introduced me to connections throughout the Bisman area, but also been beneficial to my professional development. Most importantly, the network can be tailored to any individual’s needs. The diverse subgroups allows members to stick with what is most comfortable or to branch out and acquire new skills. Additionally, the network doesn’t require a set amount of time—it provides a wide array of events that can fit in whenever time permits. I am grateful for being introduced to the network, and I look forward to my continued role going forward.
How do you spend your free time?
I’m an avid Minnesota sports fan, and depending on the season, my favorite hobbies are golf, pheasant hunting and snow skiing. In my downtime, I enjoy reading and taking my dogs (Yellow Lab and Samoyed) to the river.
Are you involved in other organizations in the community?
I am currently a member affiliate of the Bismarck Mandan Homebuilders Association and the Bismarck Mandan Board of Realtors®, and am looking to join an additional service based organization within the coming months.
What is your favorite quote?
I have always appreciate the following piece from Jim Valvano’s 1993 ESPY speech:
“To me, there are three things we all should do every day. We should do this every day of our lives. Number one is laugh. You should laugh every day. Number two is think. You should spend some time in thought. Number three is you should have your emotions moved to tears, could be happiness or joy. But think about it. If you laugh, you think and you cry, that’s a full day. That’s a heck of a day. You do that seven days a week, you’re going to have something special.”
