A group of YPN members met at KLJ on Tuesday, September 22 for a Marketing Lunch and Learn. Communications Manager Jill Beilke and Marketing Manager Donnell Roehrich shared marketing and communication practices from KLJ.
The duo shared with the group both internal and external practices at KLJ and gave examples of various forms of communication and media they have used when introducing a new product to both their employees and their clients. For instance, Beilke shared with the group the importance of employee communication, using tools such as the company’s Intranet and newsletter. Roehrich and her marketing team use channels such as industry publications and digital media to relay their message.
One of the most important aspects of marketing and communications is repetition. You have to get in front of people at least three times for your message to be relayed. Also, it’s crucial to know your audience and use the appropriate message and channels with which to reach them. There are many resources available to promote your product or brand, but you can’t always use every channel, nor should you be. It is important to find the most suited means for your audience and your message.
YPN members asked about KLJ branding, as it is very cohesive across the board. The managers shared that they have a published style guide from which employees are to follow. From everything to the font style and the color in the logo to displaying the brand properly when putting together an email or signature, KLJ has guidelines so that their brand is consistent through all channels and among all of their employees.
The next Marketing Lunch and Learn is scheduled for Tuesday, November 17, Noon at Odney.
