“Transform Tomorrow” is a fitting theme for the 2013 Great Plains Young Professional Summit that will be hosted in Bismarck May 30th-June 1st. The event will be focused on how young professionals can impact their workplaces and communities while developing a vision for their future career path. It’s really quite amazing to think about the momentum these summits have brought to Bismarck, Fargo and Minot over the past three years reaching over 430 attendees. There will be more than 15 breakout sessions covering community involvement, leadership, personal/professional development and sharing of YP best practices.
The Great Plains Young Professional Summit personally inspired me as well. In 2011, I attended the Fargo Great Plains Young Professional Summit and had chosen a breakout session focusing on international business and the impact it has on our state. This session completely inspired me to go outside of my ND box (keep in mind I haven’t ever been out of the country including Canada). I knew that Rotary offered a Group Study Exchange program for young professionals to experience a unique cultural and vocational visit in a selected foreign country for a five week period. This program provided the opportunity to experience the host country’s culture and institutions, observe how their vocations are practiced abroad, develop personal and professional relationships, and exchange ideas.
I thought to myself that I have to give this a shot! I applied, was interviewed and selected as part of a six member team that traveled to Tasmania, Australia, in May of 2012 for five weeks. It was definitely an amazing life changing experience for me on so many levels and has opened my mind to new possibilities. So in the words of Audrey Hepburn “Nothing is impossible, the word itself says ‘I’m possible’!”
Please have your employees join me at the 2013 summit. They will be hearing nationally and internationally recognized speakers present on local and global trends as well as three outstanding keynote speakers; Stacy Dragila, Coach Dale Brown, and Craig Valentine. It will be a life changing experience for them to open that door to big picture thinking, leadership development, and refining and enhancing their personal career goals. Your young professional employees will be the key to “Transforming Your Tomorrow”.
