This May, the Entrepreneur Team hosted Caroline Crary and Hannah Haynes from Bismarck Magazine for an “Entrepreneurs Among Us Lunch” at the IDEA Center. Caroline and Hannah are the co-founders of Bismarck Magazine, which recently celebrated its one-year anniversary. With the tagline “Small Town, Growing City”, Bismarck Magazine exists to highlight the culture and lifestyle of Bismarck-Mandan and other surrounding areas.
Caroline and Hannah met in DECA at the University of Mary. After graduating, Caroline began working as a teacher and Hannah as an executive director for a non profit. However, both were interested in becoming self-employed, and one day during a lunch at Arnaldo’s, they had the idea to develop a publication that would both target millennials and also showcase the amazing opportunities Bismarck has to offer. The next thing they new, they were laying the groundwork to make the vision a reality. They published their first issue in March 2016, and have continued to publish bi-monthly ever since. They currently distribute to over 200 different locations with an impressive print run of 15,000 copies per issue. They have 2,000 subscribers, with a 40/60 female/male split. Their publications have included a home issue, holiday issue, bridal insert, and many more. With ad sponsors from University of Mary to WeFest, and photography from Glasser Images, Bismarck Magazine is every inch the quality publication.
Caroline and Hannah recently opened an office on 5th and Main and encourage new visitors to stop by! In the meantime, stay tuned on the events calendar to see the date and time of the network’s next “Entrepreneurs Among Us”.
