Carmen Banta is a senior marketing coordinator for HDR, where she has proudly been employed since October 2011.
She’s a Williston native, who’s involvement in the YP Network has far extended from simply being a member. She’s been former E-Team Co-lead, currently a partner liaison and was an Epic Impact committee member. Let’s learn more about Carmen in our January Entrepreneur Team Spotlight.
Why do you feel it is important to be part of the YP Network?
Being part of YP has given me several opportunities to expand my network within the Bismarck-Mandan Community. I’ve been involved with the Network for 8 years and it has allowed me to meet new people, make important business connections and grow friendships. If you leverage the opportunities the YPN provides, it can make a huge impact in both your professional and personal life!
Are you involved in other organizations in the community? If so, to what extent and why is this important to you?
Yes – I am a volunteer Junior Achievement instructor, I teach financial classes at my church and provide financial coaching, and I’m on the TEDx Bismarck planning committee. I also volunteer to serve on advisory boards within the community.
I feel community involvement is incredibly important because it gives you the opportunity to impact the lives of others. I am passionate about the things I am involved in for differing reasons, but all are fed by a desire to see others succeed.
What professional advice do you have for other young professionals?
GET INVOLVED! Whether it’s YPN, a civic organization, a non-profit or your church, you will find so much more satisfaction when you are growing and challenging yourself and also serving others.
How do you spend your free time?
I spend lots of time outside with my family – husband, Andrew; son, Porter (age 4); and daughter, Isabella (age 2).We love the Zoo, Pumpkin Patch, bike rides, hiking, and playing at parks. I also take full advantage of our YMCA membership – Tabata, Body Pump, and Step are my jam!
What is your favorite quote?
Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, workat it with all your heart as working for the Lord, not for men.”
I LOVE cheese, my favorite color is blue, and I had major back surgery when I was just 10 years old.
“Carmen gives generously and selflessly of her time to the YP Network, particularly to the E-Team,” says Amy Brown, E-Team Co-lead. She continues, “Carmen serves diligently as a business partner liaison and is always willing to do more. She recently filled in as interim co-lead while I was on maternity leave. After initiating the annual business partner luncheon, Carmen continues to assist in the planning of the event and creating the power point presentation.”
Thank you, Carmen, for being an invaluable asset to the YP Network and the E-Team! We’re so glad you are a YPN member.
