On Wednesday, May 27 a group of 17 members met at Cottonwood Park for the network’s annual Roadside Cleanup event. Many years ago, the network adopted Burleigh Avenue from University to Washington and our members volunteer to clean this stretch of road every year. This event has become a tradition and a source of great memories for all who participate. One of the most fun aspects of the cleanup event is finding interesting items along the road which always leads to a great story afterwards.
This year, a man who was driving by saw our group working, and promptly went to a gas station to buy us treats. He came back and handed us push-pop ice cream treats, thanking us for our hard work. After we finished the cleanup, we went to Bruno’s pizza and had a great time sharing stories of our experience.
The Roadside Cleanup is an annual event sponsored and planned by the Service Team, which provides networking opportunities through community service events and volunteerism. The Team partners with numerous organizations, charities and non-profits focused on enhancing quality of life and community betterment.
