  • 08/23/2010Living Masterpieces 

  • Yes, it’s true, even Young Professionals need the chance to get in touch with their creative side.  For those of you who are looking to use your creative abilities (or maybe just attempt to build some creative ability!) check out this volunteer opportunity for the Living Masterpieces event.

    Volunteers are needed to help recreate the sets for 14 pieces of artwork that will be displayed as living art for the Living Masterpieces event which is coming to Bismarck this fall. Backdrop painting is already underway at Dakota Stage until August 20 and  3-6 volunteers are needed per night. 

    Volunteers who would like to help recreate the sets will meet starting on the evening of Monday, August 23rdfrom 7:00-9:00 p.m.  Volunteers can come paint weeknights starting the 23rdand ending mid-September.

    A Paint Party will be held on Thursday, September 9    thfrom 7:00-9:00 p.m. Volunteers will get a behind-the-scenes look at Living Masterpieces, learn about the history of the event and how it comes together each year, and enjoy refreshments as payment for their painting efforts.

  • 09/14/2010Power Lunch-Cultural Communications 

  • Bismarck Mandan Young Professionals and Bismarck Mandan Chamber of Commerce present a Power Lunch on cultural communication. Guest speaker Cheryl Kary will talk about differences in communication styles among cultures.

     

    Cheryl LongFeather-Kary will be speaking about cultural interactions called, ““Miscommunication, Misnomers, and Miss Know-it-all” specifically with America Indians. The session will focus on some of the major historical and contemporary cultural underpinnings which influence the different ways cultures use language. 

     

    The event is noon Sept. 14 at the Chamber. Cost is $25, with a $10 discount for YP and Chamber members. A hot meal is included.
